The need for oral health care does not cease once a person ages. Though moving into long-term care, mobility issues and mental health decline can limit a senior's ability to access dental services. Poor oral health places a person at higher medical risk, diminishes quality of life and may significantly increase their cost of care.

The focus of The Outreach Dental Program is to provide consistent and continuous dental care through education, oral assessments, personalized daily oral hygiene plans, clinical hygiene treatment and referral to our mobile dentist or denturist as required.

Our main focus is on providing dental hygiene care to seniors. We provide our patients with exams, cleaning, polish, and fluoride treatments as needed. We also do IST fillings, and have a wonderful mobile dentist and denturist on our team to help care for all your dental needs in the comfort and safety of your residence.

It is always our goal to provide affordable treatment and we will gladly discuss payment options if required. We are happy to provide Insurance claim forms as our services are covered at the same rate as in a dental office, and can submit directly for some insurance companies.
THE BENEFITS
The dental hygiene service was developed to provide in-house care to those who find it difficult to seek treatment within a dental office. We are able to provide professional dental care to seniors in the comfort and safety of their own rooms with our mobile equipment.
Good dental health has officially been linked to better ability to manage COVID-19.
A study at McGill University identified a strong link between periodontitis (a common form of gum disease) and severe COVID-19 outcomes. People with periodontitis were found to be 3.5 times more likely to require hospitalization, 4.5 times more likely to require a ventilator, and 8.8 times more likely to die from COVID-19.

OUR TEAM
Our team includes two Independent Registered Dental Hygienists. We use a very gentle approach and understand that our clients just don't feel up to treatment on some days. We will gladly re-schedule as needed without charge to our clients.

Trish and Glenna have a lot of understanding and experience with seniors who have Alzheimers, through their parents that have Alzheimers and are currently living in seniors communities. Both team members are very aware of the needs of residents in long term and retirement homes, and are passionate about providing excellent oral care to help seniors maintain their oral health
Patricia O'Neill, RDH
Trish holds over 27 years of experience in dental care support, having worked 23 years at a local Ottawa clinic before starting with Outreach Dental in 2017. Due to having family members with Alzheimer's, Trish has personal experience in working with seniors who may need extra patience and compassion. She is very passionate about providing the best in oral health care, caring for residents, and building a strong relationship with other health care professionals. She fully understands the challenges many seniors face and does her best to provide gentle treatments!
Glenna Whelan, RDH
Throughout 30+ years of experience, Glenna has built long-term relationships with her clients in Orleans and is adored by them for her gentle touch and East Coast friendliness. She has spent the past several years being an advocate for her aging parents while they struggle with dementia. Glenna strongly believes that the elderly in our community deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and looks forward to getting to know more seniors in the community!
